This fictional story is based on the real life of film director G.W. Pabst. When he finds himself trapped in Austria during World War II, Goebbels wants him to make propaganda films.
Kehlmann’s tale about art and morality is timely given that art is more important than ever right now. Compelling and thought-provoking, I highly recommend.
