20 years ago, I did a PhD in English Literature. It was about the Titanic in literature and film. Since then, my writing has adapted and evolved in many ways.

I moved to London after graduating and scored an online editor role for dance music station GaydarRadio. The day I got a job that paid me to write was one of the best moments of my life. You could often catch my segment ‘A Slice of Bree’ on the GaydarRadio Breakfast Show with Neil and Debbie, who gave me the nickname – wait while I put on my best Kath & Kim accent – ‘Oh Hoi Bree!’ Oh hoi!

Back in Australia since 2012, I’ve worked as a copywriter, UX writer and content designer in corporate banking and tech.

Now, as a more mature writer, I’m having fun looking at film, literature, and history (and even my own writing) through a different lens.

What hasn’t changed is my fascination with art and culture around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The other constants are my love for the ways a sentence can make you think and feel, and how reading and writing can blow minds and rock worlds. Art matters.
